Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
